Silent Noise

Close to the coast, with the windows and gaze turned towards Sweden, at the Shipyard in Elsinore Harbour, the King’s Quay and the Sveasøjlen, real memories from World War II are staged, as told by first-hand witnesses from the occupation period.

Young and older people from Helsingør have spoken to each other and it is these conversations that create the basis for the performance Stille Støj/Silent Noise, which will play in the days around Auschwitz Day (International Holocaust Remembrance Day) January 27, 2026.

Mørklagt is a theatrical adaptation of 5 witnesses’ accounts from the war and the occupation in Denmark. Visualised reflections on the dilemmas of war, big and small. Surrender or fight. Standing up for your values or hiding. Resist, take up arms or wait silently in the dark.
