The ACADEMY & Alte Feuerwache (Germany)

Posted by

Alte Feuerwache e.V. (AFeV) is a Berlin-based NGO that acts as an umbrella for several organisations that implement activities for youngsters. The ‘ACADEMY’, a stage arts school for young people between the ages of 13 and 19 in Berlin and the implemented production house, is one of them.

Partnering with us again for 2025, the ACADEMY has cooperated with the Theatre of Remembrance since 2016 and has created five different performances of remembrance over the years, presented on the 27th of January.

Through dance, singing, and theatre, they promote the cooperation of young people of different ages, cultures, and educational backgrounds. The goal of the ACADEMY is to create synergies between the stage disciplines, between the life of youngsters and their audience, and between the present, the past, and the future.

The 2 main pillars of their work include educational activities and documenting testimonies of witnesses of the important historical phenomena of the 20th century (Czech and Slovak veterans of WWII, victims of Holocaust and Stalinism, etc.).

Their educational workshops are based on experience-based learning, drama principles, and their archived testimonies. As of last year, they have conducted over 700 such workshops across Slovakia (also thanks to the support from the EC-Europe for Citizens program, Active Citizens Fund, and other donors).

National Holocaust Museum (The Netherlands)

The National Holocaust Museum tells the story of the Nazi persecution and murder of the Jewish people in the Netherlands.

The National Holocaust Museum is set in a historic location—a former teacher training college. During the war, the Nazis used the kindergarten next door as a deportation site for Jewish children.

This is the first and only museum in the Netherlands to relate the history of the persecution of the Jews. Including the day-to-day life of Jewish Dutch on the eve of the Second World War, the liberation as Jews experienced it, and how the Holocaust has been treated in our national culture of remembrance.

In doing so, they aim to be an international authority on the legacy of war, in particular the Holocaust.

Garage TDI, based in Assen, aims to develop and implement performances, workshops, and educational activities in the field of theatre and dance that contribute positively to the development of children and young people in the broadest sense of the word. They also offer training and initiate extracurricular theatre education for young people across the Netherlands.

Out of Office (Denmark)

Posted by

Out Of Office (OOO) is a producing performing arts organisation based in Helsingør, Denmark, established in 2023 by Ilon Lodewijks.

OOO creates cross-aesthetic projects for children, youth, and adults. Their works manifest through playful platforms: installations, live art, theatre performances and more; often emerging from interaction with the audience and inviting them to reflect and engage.

They operate at the intersection of performance and social engagement; societal issues are explored through artistic formats that examine who we are and how we act in the world.

For their collaboration with the Theatre of Remembrance they work through their sister-organisation, Out Of Office Jr. Under this branch, they create performative works with young people in the leading role based on the principle ‘for, with, and by young people’.
